Letters written from Charleston, S.C., and elsewhere to various veterans of Confederate Army documenting Mikell's efforts to obtain autographs for a Charleston memorial. Correspondence with Confederate officers re biographical sketches and accounts of post-war activities; letter, 19 Aug. [ca. 1870s?], from CSA Naval officer George T. Sinclair, writing from Halifax, Nova Scotia, "Rebel - well thank God I am a rebel, my Grandfathers were all rebels & my Father was fighting for the U.S. Govt in 1812 when the Yankees ... was in communication with the English Fleet. Traitors, then as now to the Government which they have destroyed ..."
